In his bed he lies alone Like a prisoner in his home Weak and numb How can he come To face another day?

Just a boy of nine Yet he's aged beyond his time Sits alone Inside his home Will it ever be alright?

He wants to run, jump and play Like all the other boys, Feel the wind blow though his hair Carefree and full of joy. How do we help him stand and smile Be the best that he can be To be hopeful, young, and free?

Mother smiles when she can But her friends can't understand Despite her pain and fears She won't reveal The reason for her tears.

"Father's here" he softly says Standing watch beside his bed. He smiles eagerly For his son to see Yet his heart is filled with pain.

How can he go back to work As his bills to heaven reach Who will feed her children She's so tired and so weak Who will help to ease their pain Be there to dry their tears Help calm their growing fears?

There's an ear out there that hears the call There's a hand outstretched won't let you fall Help be the ones to ease their plight Illuminate this endless night
